Today, he makes north of half a million dollars a year and has a net worth of 50 million. Turns out you can’t buy a clean medical history…

Our broker was in competition on a $4M policy, so he started with Best Class pricing. Formally applied to the top 2 carriers. One declined him immediately, based on his prescription history; the other was willing to underwrite, but we were clutching a flimsy reed, and they were already at a Smoker class due to chewing tobacco.

• We did some serious digging and actually found some dirt on his file from 2002;
• We shopped the case via our Quick Quote system, where we check high and low for your best offers, using a summary of the medical history;
• The summary didn’t look good—he was on a very serious depression med and had abused Ativan in the past. We got a fair number of declinations, some heavy ratings, flat extras, all of it;
• After some real hiccups and challenges—the agent was fantastic on this case—we got him approved at Table 2, and successfully removed the Smoker status.

This case took a real team effort and relentless persistence.
